We chatted with preferred event coordinator and friend, Cari Izaguirre, and picked that beautiful brain of hers. As Founder of All Occasions Event Planning, Cari believes that a flawlessly executed event is a must and prides herself in spending time ensuring that every event gets the personalized attention it deserves.   • Why should I choose Camarillo Ranch as my wedding venue?  Camarillo Ranch is by far one of the BEST venues around! I’ve had the privilege of working there many times and all you hear from the clients and guests are what an incredible gem it is! Not only is the historic feature of the ranch amazing, you have endless options on what you can do and where you can have your event, plus it’s absolutely beautiful! If you are looking for a place to have an unforgettable event, look no further because I guarantee that is what you will get here.
  • Why should I hire a wedding coordinator?  Planning a wedding can be very stressful. It takes a lot of time and energy in order to make your wedding day dreams come true. Everything involved in planning a wedding must be brought together to ensure that the bride and groom are able to enjoy themselves without worry. A wedding coordinator will be there to help reduce the stress by managing and organizing all of the details. Our expertise can help to create a pleasant planning experience. A wedding coordinator can save you valuable time by providing you with a portfolio of preferred vendors or doing the required legwork including vendor research and selections, venue site inspections, budget management, contract reviews, timeline planning from start to finish, and so much more.
  • Why do we need a “day-of” coordinator?  We recommend that you have at least one professional coordinator with you the day of your event. A “day-of” coordinator can handle the last-minute issues that you shouldn’t have to worry about, such as, setting up your personal items (favors, place cards, etc.) toasts, introductions, and coordinating various vendors to ensure that the timeline for your event is followed and the results are as you planned. Instead of putting yourself and your guests to “work” at your event, you can all enjoy the celebration worry-free.
  • What does a wedding coordinator do?  Depending on your needs, a coordinator can be helpful in many different ways. If you are working full time, it can be convenient to have a professional help you with the planning, phone calls and research, if not more. We can assist you with your budget and be a “coach” to you if you just need some guidance through the process of planning, including providing referrals to reputable vendors. We can help you plan your entire event if you wish – from site selection to decor and entertainment. We can help with vendor negotiations, attend meetings for/with you, and answer etiquette questions. We can finalize details the month prior to, and then be there for the rehearsal and the day of your event to ensure everything goes as planned.
  • Can I afford a wedding planner? You can’t afford NOT to have a coordinator! A coordinator needs to be a part of the budget, not an extra expense. Based upon our recommendations and expertise, clients experience an overall savings that pays for our service while having the wedding of their dreams within their budget. One of the misconceptions is that a wedding coordinator does not fit into the budget, hiring a wedding coordinator can save you money, save you time, and allow you to relax and enjoy your special day knowing that everything’s being taken care of by a professional who has your best interest at heart.

Budget, Budget, Budget!

Some of the most frequent questions we receive from our brides and grooms is focused on that B word… BUDGET! As you may already know, or are quickly discovering, there are several components involved when planning one of the most important days of your life. Each is another dollar sign which, if not contained, can swiftly spiral out of control.

Camarillo Ranch is a mid-tier venue, and we pride ourselves on providing a beautiful property as well as invaluable wedding knowledge to our engaged couples. We partner with stellar event industry vendors, and are always willing and able to offer insight and support every step of the way.

When it comes to finances and expenditures, it is important to be frugal, not cheap. The two are worlds apart and you and your guests will definitely know the difference when the big day arrives. We appreciate and commend all of those creative DIY brides out there, but there are some aspects that really should not be done yourself. BRIDES magazine has a fantastic article, which encourages leaving some things to the professionals.

Without further ado, here are 5 of our favorite tips and tricks on how to save on wedding expenditures. Your wallets will thank us later…

  1. Consider Alternate Days of the Week: Saturdays are considered ideal for a multitude of reasons, but more often than not, they also come along with additional fees. Venues, caterers, DJ’s, etc. traditionally have higher rates on this day of the week. Being open to a Friday or Sunday will be one of the first steps to staying within your budget. 3-day weekends are a hot commodity, so be sure to snag those quick!
  2. Condense Your Guest List:  Okay guys, let’s be real, you do not need to invite everyone and their mother (please remember to invite yours though!). More people essentially means more everything i.e. food, chairs, service ware, staff – the list goes on. A good rule of thumb is when you sit down with your fiancé to prepare your guest list, do not invite anyone who you have not spoken to in one year or more. When you get ready to send out your invites, you can trim the guest list even more by not inviting anyone you have not spoken to since your engagement.
  3. Electronic Save-the-Dates and Invitations:  If you really want to go green and save some green (see what we did there?) think electronic for your preliminary paper needs! Almost everyone is savvy enough now to at least have an email address. This will reduce postage and printing costs by having your guests RSVP and communicate through your wedding website or app. There’s even a nifty service that sends out a digital save-the-date and collects mailing addresses from guests in preparation for the hard mailing of invitations. There are countless services out there that can customize to your exact needs and wants.
  4. Signature Drinks:  If you book a venue that allows you to bring in your own alcohol (hello, Camarillo Ranch!) consider a basic drink menu. Beer and wine is standard, but adding 1 or 2 signature drinks will be a crowd favorite. Perhaps your favorite drink as a couple and pairing it with a witty cocktail name that your bartenders say all night. Opting out of an open bar with endless spirits will minimize costs and rowdy guests – both positives!
  5. Dessert Bar:  Large, extravagant tiered cakes can run in the 4 figures. Dessert bars and non-traditional sweets are all the rage without breaking the bank. Donuts, cookies, pies, etc. just to name a few. Candy stations are also an option, and double as party favors when you offer to-go bags!

It goes without saying, there are countless variables involved when planning a wedding. These may result in some stress or a good laugh – maybe even both! The myriad of Pinterest boards will all be worth it, when you finally say “I do” in the company of your closest friends and family.

On the day of your wedding, there are so many special moments and details leading up to and following those two little (but oh so important) words. Remember to take these all in, and even have them captured by your photographer! From photos of florals and attire – to photos of a tender exchange between you and the one(s) you love most.

Love Is In The Air…

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it is always a busy one. It is the time for some pretty influential celebrations i.e. Black History Month, Ground Hog Day, Super Bowl Sunday, President’s Day, Leap Day (we get 29 days in February this year!), etc.

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the 14th aka Valentine’s Day! It is difficult to dismiss this tradition of love and romance with the many pink and red reminders we see leading up to this special day. So it is safe to say, LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days for marriage proposals, next to New Year’s Eve and Christmas. The proposal is such a significant part of your love story, and lots of time and thought are heavily involved. HowHeAsked is a team of dedicated individuals to assist in your proposal journey with features like an engagement ring guide, vendor recommendations, and swoon worthy ideas to pop the big question. Not to mention their Instagram page has over 400K followers, including real life engagement stories that will get even the coldest of hearts feeling warm and tender.

Last year we hosted a wedding on Valentine’s Day, and it was definitely one to remember. Chelsea and Jacob are a perfect match – it is impossible not to smile when you are around them. Jason of Rayne Films stunningly captured the beautiful couple and their loved ones here at Camarillo Ranch.

The Camarillo Ranch Foundation has partnered with Party Pleasers and Camarillo Bridal Boutique to create a luxurious, unique, and memorable experience for local brides, grooms, and their families and friends. Enjoy an afternoon of mingling with Ventura County’s finest wedding professionals ranging from DJs and photographers to wedding planners and florists. Guests will also have the opportunity to sample fine food and sweet desserts from local caterers and bakeries! There is the famous Camarillo Red Barn! Standing proud and tall. Today the Camarillo Ranch is owned by the City of Camarillo and operated by the non-profit organization, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation. The 1892 Queen Anne Victorian style Camarillo Ranch House operates as a House Museum, which features rotating exhibits, along with historic home and school tours. The Foundation sponsors annual community events throughout the year, which educate the public about the Ranch’s rich history. The Camarillo Ranch is also a highly sought after wedding and special events venue, hosting over 150 private and public events throughout the year.

Glamorous Barn Soirees

While a lot of couples choose the Camarillo Ranch for its “rustic” charm, some couples choose to go another route completely. The interior of the Red Barn is essentially a blank canvas; you don’t have to have a rustic Ranch reception, ceremony or cocktail hour. In this post, we feature photos from some of our most glamorous Red Barn soirees. These couples decided to go for lavish decorations including glossy linens, crystal chandeliers and drapery like nothing you’ve seen before. Get ready for all the glitz & glamour:

Erika & Gilberto fashioned the Red Barn into a sophisticated lounge space for use during the Cocktail Hour. The leather furniture and drapery were stark white creating a clean and simple look that translated effortlessly into modern glamour. Jane & Daniel’s reception is like a combination of the previous photos. Clean white drapery not only flows along the ceiling of the Red Barn, but also on the side posts and walls. Each table has formal settings with bright coral and blue center pieces added for contrast. Another unique touch to their reception is the placement of the sweet heart table. Usually, we see the sweet heart table at the back of the barn facing out. Here, they decided to be at the entrance of the barn looking in.  Photo by Il Mare Photography.

PV Spotlight: Jennifer Jasso Photography

One of our Preferred Vendors, Jennifer Jasso Photography, is no stranger to the Camarillo Ranch. In 2014, Jenn, along with Party Pleasers Event Rentals, Fleur de Rye, La Rouge Artistry, Camarillo Bridal Boutique, Scratch Food Truck & Frost-It-Cakery, joined forces for a rustic inspired photo shoot complete with antlers, a vintage trunk & beautiful carpets. Check out some shots from the photo shoot below & prepare to be dazzled.

Barn Ceremony:

barn details_jenn jasso postOur Red Barn was styled for a simple wedding ceremony complete with Chiavari chairs, vivid florals & a hand-made cake. The little details really pull the ceremony together. Gold leaf was hand painted onto the cake and gold-to-match macarons accompanied it. The macrame table runner (see top left photo) is one of our favorite decor pieces for this ceremony. This ceremony style goes to show that the indoor space of the Red Barn can really be transformed with little effort. A few colorful details and additional rugs, chairs & tables make the Red Barn ceremony ready effortlessly.

Main Lawn Reception/Dinner:Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

An intimate dinner table was set up on the Main Lawn boasting gold cutlery, jewel tone glassware and antlers as part of the center piece. An outdoor dinner reception on the Main Lawn requires little else but the necessary seating, dinnerware and centerpieces. The lush gardens that surround the space, the 1892 Victorian mansion and the large trees that dot the grounds serve as all decorative details.

This pretty, little vintage set-up near the East Garden is a perfect sample of a cocktail hour style. Add more vintage seating and voila! The geometric chandelier is an interesting take on lighting over the standard chandelier or twinkle lights. It was hard to watch the mirrored trunk leave – we could definitely see that being used in a variety of ways its so versatile.
